A hungry wild elephant raids a grocery store in Thailand for snacks.

Image
A hungry wild elephant caused havoc in a grocery store in Thailand on Monday when he strolled in from a nearby national park and helped himself to food on the shelves. Videos of the incident showed the huge male elephant, known as Plai Biang Lek, briefly stopping in front of the shop, located next to a main road near the Khao Yai National Park in northeastern Thailand, before ducking his whole body inside. The elephant stopped in front of the shop’s counter, calmly snatching and chomping snacks, and did not flinch as the national park workers tried to shoo him away. The elephant later backed out of the shop still holding a bag of snacks with his trunk. He left little damage behind, except mud tracks on the floor and the ceiling of the shop. In a video posted on social media, Kamploy Kakaew, the shop owner, appeared amused as she described the moment the elephant rifled her shop. Boeing-made satellite explodes in space after experiencing an "anomaly"

Image
The U.S. Space Force is tracking debris in space after a satellite manufactured by Boeing exploded earlier this week, the satellite's operator said.  The Intelsat 33e satellite, which was launched in 2016 and provides communications across Europe, Asia and Africa, experienced "an anomaly" on Saturday, Intelsat said in a news release.  Attempts were made to work with Boeing and repair the satellite, but on Monday, the U.S. Space Force confirmed that the satellite had exploded. The satellite's breakup left some customers without power or communications services. Intelsat said it is working with third-party providers to limit service interruptions, and is in communication with customers.   Since the breakup, the U.S. Space Force is now tracking "around 20 associated pieces" of the satellite in space. The agency said that there are "no immediate threats" and routine assessments to ensure safety are ongoing.  Russia's space agency, Roscosmos, s...

Another monolith appeared near Las Vegas. Who's behind these mysterious objects?

Image
First it was Utah. Then Romania. And California. Spain. Wales. Paraguay. The metallic monoliths began to be found in late 2020 by unsuspecting viewers in seemingly random locations around the world. Often evocative of a science fiction movie prop, the mysterious objects captured the public’s attention and frequently drew crowds hoping to catch a glimpse of the bewildering columns. Then, earlier this month, another gleaming prism materialized outside of Las Vegas. “We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water... but check this out!” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a post on X. Police say they don’t know who is responsible for the monolith or how they got it there. Just what, exactly, are these things? Some have speculated they’ve been deposited on Earth by alien visitors. Others surmise the monoliths might be far-out works of art — or simply playful pranks. The first monolith appeare...

Spirit Airlines Passengers Freak Out as Rat Runs Around Plane.

Image
Someone might want to release snakes on this Spirit Airlines flight ... 'cause they might catch the rat scurrying around the jet and freaking out passengers! Check out this clip taken on a Spirit flight from Dallas to Los Angeles, which appears to show a rat running above an overhead bin during the approximately 3-hour flight. The rat's feet can be seen through the opaque glass with light illuminating its snout ... lording over the airplane populace while a group of people film it. Passengers can be heard calling the rambunctious rodent a "super rat" during the clip ... which ends when the rat darts away out of the light. It's unclear what flight this was exactly ... but, this incident reportedly took place last week. Sounds like the plane didn't have to stop and call an exterminator, either. Obviously, the "Snakes on a Plane" jokes popped up online almost immediately ... though Samuel L. Jackson wasn't onboard to rid the flight of the pes...

Pilot was sucked OUT of cockpit at 17,000ft as brave steward clung on to his legs

Image
IT was a crisis that no pilot could ever prepare for. At 17,000ft in the sky, the passenger jet's windscreen blew out - taking the captain with it. He would have been sucked out of the plane to a certain death had a quick-thinking air steward not grabbed his legs, while the first officer had to find a way to get the stricken aircraft safely on the ground as winds of 250 knots blew into his face. And all the while the horrified crew could see their Captain Tim Lancaster’s face and body smashing against the outside of the plane, leading them to believe there was no way he could survive. It sounds like a scene from a disaster movie. But this is the real-life terror that faced passengers and crew on BA flight 5390 from Birmingham to Malaga, which they have relived for Channel 5 show Terror At 30,000ft. Aviation expert John Walton tells the documentary: “The wind is rushing in at 250 miles an hour. "The Captain is stuck half in, half out of the aircraft, from the waist up, he’s ...
